Over 16 million Americans and 400 million people worldwide have rosacea. For over 30 years, we have designated April as Rosacea Awareness Month to educate, raise awareness and reduce stigma about this chronic and complex skin condition.
For Rosacea Awareness Month 2024, we are highlighting the importance of skin care in rosacea treatment. Prior to diagnosis, many rosacea sufferers may turn to skin care products and cosmetics as a way to treat or cover up these signs and symptoms, mistaking them for a temporary condition like sunburn or acne. The use of gentle cleansers, moisturizers that help repair the skin moisture barrier, and sunscreens can work to support and even augment medical therapy for the disease.
How To Participate
Support Rosacea Research
Perhaps nowhere else in dermatology is so little known about a disorder that affects so many. Because the cause of rosacea is unknown and there is no cure, the National Rosacea Society's research grants program was established in 1999 to encourage and support research into the potential causes and other key aspects of this disorder that may lead to improvements in its treatment and potential prevention or cure. Join the fight against rosacea with a donation today.
